How long will each visit take?

Visits are one day in length. Additionally, pre-visit questionnaires must be completed as a pre-requisite for the visit. There is also an optional bone part of the study that can be completed on a second day.

How long is the study?

The study in longitudinal, meaning it lasts many years. In particular, the PANDA Study is four years long with one visit each year.

IS the MRI Safe?

Yes! MRIs are safe and no health risks have been associated with the magnetic fields or radio frequency waves used in this imaging technology. Your child will not be exposed to any harmful forms of radiation or X-rays during the imaging process. As long as your child has no metal inside or outside their body, it is completely safe for them to go inside an MRI machine. 

Are transportation and food costs reimbursed?

Flight/hotel/ground transportation and food costs are covered for the participating child and one caregiver or parent.

will our family be compensated for participating?

Families will receive an honorarium of up to $130 for their participation and a picture of your child's brain during visits.
